AMF Launches Educationnal Campaign for Young Investors

Since 2020, Autorité des Marchés Financiers has seen an influx of millions of new investors in the country's financial markets, more than half of whom are younger than traditional investors.

Many investors between the ages of 18 and 24 have learned about cryptocurrencies from friends and family or on social media and are trading the asset. However, these young people may be overestimating their financial literacy.

In light of this trend, the French financial regulator has once again partnered with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to launch a financial literacy strategy aimed at young investors, with a new educational campaign titled “Les Mystères d'Investipolis”.

The campaign has been kicked off with World Investor Week 2024 and will run for several weeks.

During the event, young people will enter the “Investipolis” and meet NPCs who may be guides or scammers. Investors will be able to test their financial literacy through videos, games and comics, understand their risk profile, correct popular misconceptions, make informed investment decisions and deal with investment scams.

AMF France considers the protection of retail investors a top priority and believes it is important to provide investors with tailored information in this increasingly open and digitalized environment.

The regulator encourages people to be informed from multiple reliable sources before investing; helps investors to improve their financial literacy, particularly with regard to high-risk investments; assists investors to better understand their profile and to invest according to their risk profile; and raises awareness of financial investment scams.
