The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) is piloting a new Australian Financial Services (AFS) license application digital portal to streamline the online application process for AFS licenses.
The new AFS license portal is able to pre-fill the information that ASIC already knows, listing only questions that are relevant to each applicant.
The invitation-only pilot commenced on August 12th. During the pilot, other AFS license applicants will continue to use the existing eBusiness licensee portal to apply for, maintain and vary their licenses.
ASIC expects to open the new portal to all license applicants in the first quarter of 2025. The regulator is currently using the pilot to collect feedback and continue to improve the processes related to AFSL licensing.
Australian financial regulator ASIC plans to become a digitally enabled and data-informed regulator by 2030.
