The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) is helping investors better protect themselves. It replaced the previous Companies you should not deal with list with a new Investor Alert List, which was first updated on 8 November this year.
The Investor Alert List helps investors understand which companies, businesses, websites or entities are not trustworthy.
Entities appearing on the list may be targeting Australian financial consumers but do not have an Australian Financial Services (AFS) license from ASIC and are not permitted to provide investment services in the country.
However, the list is not exhaustive. Entities that do not appear on the list may also be fraudulent.
On 14 November 2023, the Investor Alert List was updated with the websites or contact details of 26 unlicensed entities, including six "imposters." Investors are advised not to engage in trading activities with companies or individuals on the list.
