FTX Europe, the European branch of the bankrupt crypto exchange FTX, has created a new website https://ftxeurope.eu/ for customers to withdraw their account balances with FTX Europe.
The website has been approved by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC). However, the website does not offer any services other than withdrawals.
In an email, FTX Europe stated: "Please be informed that our new domain, www.ftxeurope.eu, has been approved by our regulator CySEC as you have well identified. The website will only be used for all FTX EU FTD clients to be able to claim their FIAT balances. There will be no services or products offered via this website."
FTX Europe is based in Switzerland with regional headquarters in Cyprus. The company was granted a crypto license by CySEC in March 2022 and a Cyprus Investment Firm (CIF) license in September of the same year.
However, in November 2022, FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried declared the crypto exchange bankrupt, and CySEC immediately suspended the operations of FTX Europe.
Last December, the regulator extended the suspension of FTX Europe's CIF license until March 31, 2023, to let the company "proceed with the necessary actions in order to comply with the relevant provisions of the Investment Services and Activities and Regulated Markets Law of 2017."
According to the resource, some FTX clients in other regions have recently received debtor confirmation emails from Kroll, a restructuring administration firm appointed by FTX as claims agent, confirming debt information to clients and exclusive cilent codes.
