Johnny Depp Alerts Fans to Online Scammers Posing as Him

Famous Hollywood actor Johnny Depp has reminded via the social media platform Instagram that cyber crooks posing as himself or his team were trying to deceive his fans.

While sending New Year wishes to his fans, Deep warned people to beware of scammers who use artificial intelligence technology to create the illusion of his face and voice. He declared that neither he nor his team would ever ask for money or personal information from fans.

He wrote, “Today, AI can create the illusion of my face and voice. Scammers may look and sound just like the real me. ”

“We are actively working to combat these illicit schemes,” Depp added.

He said he only has one account on the platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok respectively, and not on any other platform.

Impersonators reportedly contacted potential victims on behalf of Depp or his family, team, or agent, offering paid meetings, calls, membership clubs, or fan cards.

But the actor said he does not contact fans directly through any social media platforms, emails, or chat software like TelegramWhats, App, Signal, and Zangi.

In the end, Depp once again emphasized, “Again, neither myself, my team, my agent, nor my family will ever contact you on my behalf asking for money or your information.”

Just last month, a 67-year-old victim of a pig-butchering scam told how she was scammed out of her life savings by scammers posing as famous actor Keanu Reeves. She wanted to use her experience to remind others not to fall for the scam.
