Rakuten Securities, a Japanese FX, CFD and stock broker, has posted its financials for the third quarter of 2021, revealing an increase in both revenue and profits on a YoY basis.
More specifically, the Japanese broker reported a revenue of 21.9 billion yen, up 19% compared to the equivalent period in 2020. Net operating revenue came in at 20.75 billion yen, compared to 17.74 billion yen for the year-ago quarter. Operating income for the third quarter stood at 3.34 billion yen. This represents a decline compared with prior year's 3.95 billion yen.
In addition, ordinary income decreased from Q3 2020's 4 billion yen to 3.46 billion yen. Profits totaled 2.3 billion yen, showing a jump of 15 percent year-over-year.
In terms of financial results for the first nine months of 2021, from January till September, Rakuten Securities generated total operating revenue of more than 66 billion yen, 27% higher than that of Q3 2020. Moreover, it closed the period with a net income of 7.5 billion yen, up 10.3% than the previous year.
Rakuten Securities continues to expand its offering of trading instruments. The broker is adding 200 stocks listed on US and Hong Kong exchanges to its offering, effective from October 20, 2021.
