Saxo Bank Japan to Support After-Hours Trading from 1 November

Saxo Bank Securities (Saxo Bank Japan), the Japanese subsidiary of Copenhagen-based multi-asset trading platform Saxo Bank, will offer after-hours trading services from Wednesday 1 November 2023. Investors will be able to trade foreign securities, CFDs on individual stocks, and CFDs on other securities listed on major U.S. stock exchanges outside of normal trading hours.

After-hours trading enables investors to trade before and after normal trading hours. Traders have the opportunity to profit from sudden stock price changes that may be caused by financial events, breaking news, or earnings announcements.

However, after-hours trading can also pose certain risks. Since there are fewer market participants and less liquidity during this time of the day, as well as market volatility that can cause prices to float, some or all of an investor's orders may not be executed, or may be executed at unfavourable prices.

Apart from Saxo Bank, many brokers and exchanges are also exploring ways to extend trading hours to meet trading demand.

The chief executive of India's National Stock Exchange (NSE) has been pushing for longer trading hours in equities.

South Korea plans to extend trading hours for currency pairs next year.

The electronic trading company Interactive Brokers is also expanding the range of Overnight Trading Hours service.
