Fraudsters on Social Media Falsely Claim to Recover Funds for Online Scam Victims

Malaysian police have warned people to beware of scammers on TikTok who falsely claim they can help you recover funds lost in online scams.

Recently, some people on the social media platform claimed to be able to provide “legal services” to victims of online scams and help them recover their funds.

However, police emphasize that any service that claims to guarantee the recovery of funds lost due to scams is just another scam.

In any scam case, the return of funds must follow a legal process and be initiated by the investigating officer. No shortcuts for anyone or any agencies.

Police said, “If you do believe and opt (for it), it will be 'out of the frying pan, into the fire'.”
