The Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) of South Africa has warned an imposter of Cboe Global Markets, reminding the public of their financial security.
A complaint was reported to the regulator that an investor who had accepted financial services from a Cboe impostor was not paid with returns. According to the victim, the impostor provided a so-called FSCA financial certificate with license number 14315 issued by the Financial Services Board, the predecessor of the FSCA.
The FSCA clarified that the FSP number 14315 belongs to Wings Financial Services CC (WFS), a company known as CSFin.
Both Cboe Global Markets and WFS have denied that they have any connection with the impostor. The regulator has also been unable to contact the impostor.
The FSCA advises investors to pay more attention to red flags when they receive tempting investment advice. Common red flags include no financial license, vague descriptions of investment products, urging investors to make a decision, and asking for more fees before withdrawing funds.
