Malaysian Police Arrests Nine Job Scammers

On Monday (July 22), the police in Kuala Lumpur arrested nine suspects, including four teenagers, for allegedly committing a job scam.

According to the police, the arrested suspects include four Malaysians and five Chinese, ranging in age from 14 to 40 years old. The individuals were responsible for making phone calls and managing data in the syndicate.

Meanwhile, the police also seized 18 mobile phones, four laptops and five computers, as well as a script and a router.

These suspects pretended to have partnerships with well-known e-commerce platforms to help them sell goods. They approached victims with a pre-written script to entice them to earn 0.3% to 0.6% commission, and invited interested victims to join a Telegram group to give them instructions.

In addition, the scammers accessed the victim's account on the e-commerce platform, manipulated the account data, and created fake transactions to further attract the victim's attention.
