Limassol Man Falls Victim to €11,000 Online Cryptocurrency Scam

A 47-year-old man from Limassol has fallen victim to an online cryptocurrency scam, losing nearly €11,600.

The incident began when the man discovered a website claiming to offer consulting services for cryptocurrency investments. Intrigued by the promise of guaranteed financial gains, he submitted a request for more information. Shortly after, he was contacted by an unknown individual.

Following the scammer’s instructions, the victim granted access to his computer to facilitate the creation of an account on a specific cryptocurrency platform. Over the course of four separate transactions, he transferred a total of €11,591.42 to his personal electronic wallet. However, to his dismay, the funds were swiftly moved to another account without his consent on the same day.

The scammer then requested additional funds, but the victim, realizing something was amiss, refrained from making further deposits and promptly reported the fraud to the police.
