Three Facebook Pages Exposed: Impersonating Nigerian News Agency TVC News to Promote Fraudulent Investment Scheme

2024-09-26 BrokersView

It has come to light that three Facebook pages used the name and graphics of TVC News, a Nigerian 24-hour news channel, to promote the so-called Boldgain investment platform. The three Facebook pages, “TVC News”, “TVC News Nigeria”, and “TVC News Nigerian”, encourage Nigerians to grow their money through an investment platform called Boldgain International.

However, users should refrain from giving their money to these pages and the platform!

A typical post on the pages reads: “BOLDGAIN INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT PLC is very real and genuine join to invest now and take yourself to the next level in life…it is a financial support to all Nigeria citizens, business Men, Market Women, Traders, Farmers, Office workers, and Students.”

Some of the posts include videos of popular Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, apparently promoting the platform. Ozokwor has warned social media users to be wary of scammers using her name: “Please note that anything that sounds too good to be true is probably not true. Investigate before you invest. Check for real accounts and contacts.”

The pages did not link to Boldgain International’s website. Instead, the posts ask users to register via WhatsApp. This may allow scammers to steal users’ personal and banking information. In addition, the pages in question were unverified and created in 2024. The pages’ posts are also poorly written. This is uncharacteristic of pages promoting a genuine business.

TVC News’ official verified Facebook page was created in August 2017 and has more than 380,000 followers, presenting nothing about Boldgain on its official page.
