Pig Butchering Scammers Posing as Brad Pitt Swindle Spanish Women out of $362,000

Police in Spain received reports of a scamming gang posing as Brad Pitt, a famous Hollywood actor, and committing pig butchering scams on two women. After the investigation, police have arrested five suspects.

It is reported that the suspects searched Brad Pitt's fan page for scam targets. They monitored the social media activities of the two victims, drew their psychological image, and found that both women were vulnerable and more likely to fall for the scam.

The scammers chatted with the victims via WhatsApp and email, falsely claiming to be the actor and pretending to promise romantic relationships with them.

After gaining the victims' trust, the suspects then lured them to invest in various programs that did not really exist.

One victim from Andalusia lost $194,000 and another from the northern Basque Country lost $167,000.

After the investigation, the police arrested five suspects and seized two computers, mobile phones, bank cards, as well as a written diary that used to record phrases for the fraudulent activities. In addition, police managed to recover $95,000 for the victims.
